Why Choose University of Illinois Chicago & Fullstack Academy

Located in the heart of one of the world’s most dynamic cities, the University of Illinois Chicago is the city’s largest university and only public research institution. Fullstack Academy was chosen to power the UIC Tech Bootcamps.

Fullstack Academy is one of the longest-running and most successful tech bootcamps in the nation. Its graduates are equipped to succeed in the professional world through Fullstack Academy’s foundational teaching method, which allows students to thrive in their first job and every job after. Bootcamp grads also gain the assistance of a career services team and leave as members of the UIC–Fullstack community, a supportive alum network that can help open doors to future career opportunities.

Fullstack Academy has had an educational connection with Chicago since its inception in 2013, and its founders, David Yang and Nimit Maru, are proud alums of the University of Illinois system.

FAQs

  • No, you do not need to be a current student or alumni in order to apply to the Tech Bootcamps.

  • If you’re interested in UIC Tech Bootcamps and not sure which program is right for you, we recommend scheduling a call with one of our Student Advisors. They can provide you with more information about the curriculum and the roles you’ll be prepared for in each bootcamp, such as Data Analyst (Data Analytics), Software Developer (Coding), Cybersecurity Analyst (Cyber), or Product Manager (Product Management).

From there, apply to your program of choice (no prep required!). Next, our Admissions team can help you advance in the process and even help you switch programs if you change your mind (e.g., Data to Cybersecurity).

  • You do need to provide your own computer for the bootcamp. It can be a laptop or desktop as long as it meets minimum tech specifications. We highly recommend Apple computers for our program, however, it is possible to use Windows with some modifications. You must have at least MacOS 10.15 or newer or Windows 10. Because the bootcamp is live-online, you are required to have a webcam and microphone in order to participate in class.

For specific tech requirements for your chosen program, visit our Online Experience page.

  • We have a long-standing history of delivering high-quality tech education in a live online format. You'll learn in a fast-paced environment with hands-on 1:1 instruction, working closely with both your instructor and peers. Learn more about the online experience.

  • To be eligible for the program, you must be at least 18 years old and a high school grad/GED holder by the start date of your intended cohort.
